Intro to The Movement Experience

What makes The Movement Experience different from other movement modalities?

First of all: You can't get this wrong. There is no end goal or outcome.

In The Movement, there is no end goal, expectation or attachment to outcome. While TM challenges and tests your limits, it's low-impact nature makes it suitable for all ages, stages and abilities as well as ideal for those sensitive to high intensity workouts. TM aims to get you really present, back into the body, in each beat, in each movement, to listen intentionally, aware and with curiosity.

The 3 Pillars of The Movement: Presence, Pleasure & Permission

Presence.

Recognition of needing to take the time to slow down, center, ground and connect. It's about checking in rather than checking out. So, fitness is about checking out to push through. In The Movement, we utilize the same aspects to be with our sensations and discomfort.

Pleasure.

We're talking about the sensory and sensual aspects. Prioritizing your desires and knowing they aren't earned. We don't have to work hard for everything. Allowing ourselves to feel joy, to have needs, wants and desires as women and really how we prioritize and interact with those.

Permission.

All the women inside you have permission. This is about allowing yourself to recognize you are a complex and complicated being with different parts of you. There are no negative emotions, we invite everything with curiosity to explore and communicate with our inner selves. To notice how we judge ourselves, are hard on ourselves and are hyper focused on outcomes and goals. This is permission to feel your way and just be with what is without making it wrong or right. It takes a lot of the pressure off and removes anxiety from the situation.

A Safe Space in The Movement Experience

We’re not used to getting cued to be with our discomfort or to be vulnerable beyond the physical level of pushing through. We’re not used to keeping our eyes closed or letting our body lead with authority. It’s important to understand this can take awhile to trust into and let go into the experience, but don’t give up. Allow yourself to be with you, just as you are right now.
